Tove Lo is ushering in a bold new era.
The 37-year-old singer has officially released the music video for her brand-new collaboration with Belgian superstar Stromae, titled “des fleurs.” The cinematic visual was directed by acclaimed French creative Melchior Leroux and arrives just weeks after Tove announced her upcoming sixth studio album, ESTRUS, which is set to be released on September 18.
The new track serves as one of the standout collaborations from the highly anticipated record, pairing Tove’s signature electro-pop sound with Stromae’s unmistakable artistry.
According to details shared by High Rise, ESTRUS—named after the biological term referring to a female mammal in heat—finds Tove embracing her most fearless and emotionally transparent work to date. After years of balancing themes of vulnerability and uninhibited freedom, the new project explores an even deeper level of honesty.
Drawing inspiration from artists like The Knife and Robyn, as well as the Swedish indie dance scene she grew up with, Tove crafted the album alongside longtime collaborator Ludvig Söderberg. Additional production comes from Elvira Anderfjärd and Luka Kloser, known for his recent work with Addison Rae.
The album was recorded across Los Angeles, Stockholm, and a small fishing village in Sweden where Tove spent her childhood summers. The location also played a role in the creation of her previous album, Dirt Femme, but returning this time carried even greater emotional significance.
“Growing up, being depressed, struggling with my eating disorder, going through breakups, family drama, loss, everything,” Tove said of revisiting the village. “To get to the core of myself, I realized I had to return to where I was first formed.”
She added that reconnecting with that younger version of herself became an important part of the creative process, allowing those memories and emotions to shape the album.
Opening up about the meaning behind ESTRUS, Tove explained, “Estrus is an animal in heat. It’s primal. It’s my mind and my body wanting different things, wanting everything. There’s no good advice on this album… just a lot of feelings, no solutions.”
Fans can watch the newly released music video for “des fleurs” now, while ESTRUS arrives everywhere on September 18.
