Miami-based singer-songwriter and DJ Soleil is back with new music.

Following the release of her soulful single “Heart Strings,” the rising artist has unveiled her latest R&B/Soul track, “Rubbish,” along with a stylish new music video. Blending R&B, Soul, Blues, Funk and Pop, “Rubbish” finds Soleil turning heartbreak and emotional disappointment into a powerful statement of self-worth.

“The song is about waking up to the lies that we convince ourselves to believe,” Soleil explains. “What begins as a story of unconditional love and loyalty unravels into the realization that empty promises, mixed signals, and emotional neglect were never love at all.”

Rather than simply dwelling on resentment, “Rubbish” focuses on reclaiming personal power, embracing self-love and transforming self-doubt into self-respect.

Soleil describes the track as capturing the moment when someone finally decides to stop carrying the emotional weight of a relationship that no longer serves them.

“‘Rubbish’ captures the moment that self-doubt transforms into self-respect,” she says. “It is about taking out the emotional trash, reclaiming your voice, and refusing to carry someone else’s nonsense any longer.”

Musically, the song builds on the silky, soulful sound introduced on “Heart Strings,” while leaning further into Blues and Funk. Soleil’s velvety and impassioned vocals take center stage, giving the breakup anthem both vulnerability and attitude.

The accompanying “Rubbish” music video takes the song’s cinematic quality even further. Directed by filmmaker Riccardo Solorzano, the visual features Soleil performing against a golden-hued backdrop while also appearing on television screens throughout the stylish production.

The retro-inspired aesthetic complements the song’s Soul and Funk influences, while Soleil’s confident presence reinforces the track’s message of independence and self-assurance.

“Rubbish” was co-written by Soleil and producer Dinni Bartholomew. The track also features contributions from Josh Walton on bass and synth pad, Juan Santiago on keys, Moises Lenare on drums and Richard Boisrond on guitar. Paolo Angulo handled the mixing and mastering.

Coming after the warm reception to “Heart Strings,” “Rubbish” marks another step forward for the emerging artist and serves as a preview of what’s still to come.

With its infectious groove, sultry vocals and empowering message, Soleil’s latest release proves that sometimes the best way to move forward is to simply take out the emotional “Rubbish.”
