Some attractions are easy to walk away from. Others keep pulling you back in.

That complicated feeling is at the heart of Alivia Clark’s latest single, “Dancing In Circles,” an infectious dance-pop track that finds the singer-songwriter embracing the irresistible side of temptation.

Following her earlier release “Breathless,” Clark returns with a track that trades vulnerability for a little more heat. Built around a driving dance beat, glossy production and Clark’s sultry vocals, “Dancing In Circles” captures the rush of knowing you should probably let go—but choosing to stay in the moment anyway.

The song explores the familiar cycle of attraction, chemistry and hesitation.

“‘Dancing In Circles’ explores the push and pull of attraction and is about being stuck in a cycle with someone that you know isn’t good for you, but the chemistry makes it impossible to let go,” Clark says. “There’s something so addictive about that feeling, you know that you’re going around in circles, but part of you doesn’t want to stop.”

And that idea is reflected in the music. Rather than treating the situation as a cautionary tale, Clark turns it into an energetic, feel-good anthem. The result is a record that feels equally at home on a late-night dancefloor or blasting through the speakers on a night out.

Clark brought back David Mason, Lectriq (Maxim Laskavy), and GRAMMY Award winner Harry Zelnick for the production, while also putting her own stamp on the track as a songwriter. The collaboration delivers a polished EDM-pop sound that builds on the musical direction Clark has been exploring throughout this new era.

But music is only one part of Clark’s creative résumé.

The multifaceted performer has spent years moving between music, theater, television and film. She performed as a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall for seven years and has taken the stage at venues including Broadway and Rockwood Music Hall. She also opened for Mariah Carey at the opening of the World Trade Center and has performed at major NYC events.

On screen, Clark has taken on equally diverse roles. Her credits include starring roles in the feature films Buttons, A New Musical Film and 18 to Party, as well as appearances on Law & Order: Organized Crime, Saturday Night Live, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and The Late Show with David Letterman.

Younger audiences may also recognize her voice work. Clark voiced Skye in PAW Patrol interactive media for Nickelodeon and Coco in the U.S. version of Bing, which aired on Cartoon Network and HBO Max.

Now, with “Dancing In Circles,” Clark is bringing those different sides of her artistry together. The track is glossy, rhythmic and unapologetically catchy, while its lyrics tap into the messy reality behind an irresistible connection.

If “Breathless” introduced listeners to this latest chapter, “Dancing In Circles” turns up the tempo—and invites everyone to get caught in the loop.
