Olivia Rodrigo is teaming up with Chappell Roan for a new version of “expectations,” with the highly anticipated remix and its accompanying music video set to arrive this Thursday, October 15.
The pop stars officially announced the collaboration on Tuesday, October 13, confirming that the track will be released through Interscope Records at 5 p.m. PT. The music video, directed by Bardia Zeinali, will feature both artists.
The original “expectations” appears on Rodrigo’s third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. The remix was produced by Daniel Nigro, the longtime collaborator who has helped shape the sounds of both singers’ music.
The announcement follows a teaser shared by Rodrigo on Instagram Stories, featuring a voice believed to be Roan’s joking, “Ooh, Olivia does remixes now!” The brief preview sparked speculation among fans before the collaboration was officially confirmed.
Although the two artists have built successful careers with distinct pop identities, they share a longstanding professional connection. Roan previously opened for Rodrigo during the GUTS World Tour in 2024 and has contributed backing vocals to several of Rodrigo’s songs.
The upcoming release marks Rodrigo’s first official remix and Roan’s first featured appearance on another artist’s track, making the collaboration a notable moment for both singers.
Alongside the digital release, limited-edition seven-inch vinyl, CDs and cassettes will also be available for preorder. With the remix and music video arriving together, fans will soon find out how Roan’s distinctive style complements Rodrigo’s original track.
